Suzy Hogg
I’m an Interactive Art Director, Design Manager and a highly trained practitioner in many aspects of user experience and design. I have been working on designs for well-known brands for the last 17 years, with the last 13 spent in digital media. From free and pioneering online design explorations during the 90’s, through more mature, process-led approaches to user experience design, I’m now working on developing audience-led design strategy for BBC brands and services.
I currently work with the BBC’s ten national radio networks to help them define and deliver the design and user experience for network and programme content, across digital platforms. I am responsible for the creative direction and quality of the design, accessibility and user experience of digital projects commissioned out to independent suppliers.
On a typical day, I will give creative direction to, and sign off on the UX&D components of a large and demanding volume of projects, of varying complexity, scale and profile. I develop the design strategy and creative briefs and work closely with the agencies I have engaged, at all stages of the project process, advising on techniques, standards, expectations and all stages of the development of UX&D deliverables.
I’ve also initiated, and am currently working on the roll-out of a new pan-network strategic development process based on creative research, systemic innovation, design and analytical techniques that drive ideas, decisions, service and product development life cycles around a clear understanding of the needs and requirements of the target audience and the business. This process was piloted last year with Radio 3, improved and recently rolled out for Radio 2. Both networks now have a strategic vision and tools to enable the interactive team to begin to position their work with meaning and purpose for their audiences.
